Living in a van comes with a lot of challenges. The most challenging for me was to bring some kind of structure in my everyday life. But after living more than one year on the open road, I find some structure that helps me a lot to stay productive, mindful, and fit.

Morning Rituals

Coffee and Contemplation: My day kicks off with the quiet indulgence of freshly brewed coffee. This isn’t just about caffeine; it’s about granting myself a moment of peace before the day’s activities begin. It’s a period of stillness, where I avoid technology to soak in the tranquility of my surroundings.

Yoga Practice: Following coffee, I transition into yoga. This practice is not merely physical; it’s a grounding exercise that prepares both my body and mind for the day ahead. The serenity of my environment, often accompanied by the gentle sounds of nature, amplifies this experience, turning it into a meditative session.

Work and Productivity

Focused Work Sessions: Utilizing the compact yet efficient workspace in my van, I delve into various projects. This might include creating content for my YouTube channel, managing my online shops, or completing freelance tasks on Fiverr. The flexibility of van life means I can structure my work hours around my most productive times.

Breaks and Interactions: Taking breaks is crucial. Whether it’s for a meal, a quick chat with fellow van lifers, or a moment of solitude, these pauses help me maintain balance throughout my workday.

Evening Activities

Physical Exercise: As the day winds down, I dedicate time to physical activity. Depending on my location and the available amenities, this could mean a run, a workout session beside my van, or surfing if I’m near the ocean. This physical exertion is vital for both my health and mental well-being.

Reading and Reflection: My evenings often conclude with reading. This time allows me to unwind and reflect on the day, gathering thoughts and ideas for the next day’s adventures.

Conclusion

This structured yet flexible routine is the backbone of my everyday life in my van. It embodies my commitment to a minimalist lifestyle, balancing work with leisure and adventure. Living in a van isn’t just about the places I visit; it’s about how the journey molds my daily life into a series of meaningful, fulfilling moments.
