A simple guide on how you can create your own Instagram Story Filter!
If you want to create your own Instagram filter under your name, you are at the right place! Since 2017, every user has the possibility to publish their own story filter on Instagram.
The filter will be available on your profile and every time, a user on Instagram posts a story using your filter, your name will be shown!
In this short article, I want to share the steps to create your own Instagram Filter.
1. Download & Install the Meta Spark Studio
Go to: https://sparkar.facebook.com/ar-studio/learn/downloads/
Download the Meta Spark Studio for Windows or Mac
2. Open the Spark AR Studio
After the download, open the Spark AR Studio.
When you open it the first time, you have to log in with your Facebook account.
3. Create a new sharing project
Create a new “Sharing Effect” when you want to create an Instagram filter. This will set everything so that the filter can be uploaded to Instagram
4. Create your Filter
Now the exciting part begins! You can start to create your effect.
For your first filter, you can start with one of my basic YouTube tutorials.
Just follow them along and you will have a complete filter at the end.

6. Test your Filter
You can test the filter on your phone by sending it to your Instagram or with the Spark AR player on your phone.
I prefer testing it on Instagram!
For this just click on the phone icon in the left-bottom corner and click on “Send”.
After the upload is finished you will get a notification on Instagram, just click on it to open the filter on your phone!
7. Upload your Filter
When you are happy with your filter, click on the publish icon in the bottom corner to publish your Filter on Instagram.
At the pop-up set, it to “New Effect” and hit “Upload”.
8. Follow the upload process
After the upload is finished, a browser window will open.
Now you have to set the name, icon, and other metadata for your filter.

9. Wait
Now you have to wait for a little until Instagram has reviewed your filter.
10. Have fun with your filter
If everything went well, you should be able to use your filter now!
Have fun! 🥳
