I started selling on Fiverr about a year ago and it evolved to my main income source. I get a lot of messages with the question, “How do I get my first order on Fiverr”.

So here are my tips on how to land your first job on Fiverr!

1. Choose your niche.

This is the most important part when you start out on Fiverr. Choose a topic where you great at and what you can do really fast. Let’s take photo editing as an example. When you search the term “photo editing” on Fiverr, you get 32.348 search results.

So it would be pretty unlikely that someone will find or even book you because at this point you have zero Ratings.

So don’t sell just “Photo Editing” as 32.348 others do, sell something that's a niche in a niche, like “Mountain Landscape Photo Editing”

Now we only got 37 search results, so it would be more likely here to get booked.

NOTE: Make sure there is a real demand for your service. Because if nobody is searching for your offer, you can’t get any customer

2. What to expect from you?

After you have picked your niche it is time to show of your work. Create a gig with the right keywords in the title and upload some previous work of yours.

Just upload work that exactly shows what you will deliver, so people know what to expect from your service.

Also, write exactly what the customer can expect from you and what you need from your customer to get the job done. Maybe because of your profession, you will assume a lot of things for granted, but your customer don’t, because if they had the same skills as you, they would do it on their own.
So maybe show a draft to a friend which is not in this field to get some feedback.

3. Be cheap and fast!

I know.. This is a hard one, but your first gig has to be really cheap, like 5$ cheap, because this is the cheapest price you can set on Fiverr.

BUT! As you have already said exactly what you will deliver to your customer you can set up some kind of framework beforehand, so you can get the work done in no time. That is also a reason why it is so important to pick a niche. Because of your experience in this field, you can finish the work fast.

Also, set the delivery time of your first gig to 1 day.

4. Create an outstanding Gig-Thumbnail

It is like the cover of a book or the thumbnails on YouTube. Sure the inner values and your profession count but if your Gig-Thumbnail doesn’t catch any attention, nobody will click on it!

5. Create as many gigs as possible

When starting out on Fiverr, you can create 7 gigs. Take advantage of all of them. But stay true to your niche!

So let’s stick with the “Mountain Landscape Photo Editing”. Take this and change the wording a little bit. Like “Mountain Landscape Photo Color Grade”. For you, it would basically the same work but maybe your customer will search it in a different way. You will also show up in the search result.

I hope this 5 advices help you in getting started on Fiverr in 2021.
